Maximizing solar production with AC coupled Solis connected to a Tesla Powerwall

Operation of the Solis inverter

ENTER: Access to the menu or confirm to save the modification ESC: Access to the previous menu UP/DOWNN: select the menu 

Step 1: Select Grid Standard

Since we are in south Africa and our grid is always 50hz, navigate to the following path and ensure that its set to ‘GEN50’ for 50Hz.

Path: Advanced Settings -> Password:0010 -> Select Standard -> “Gen 50”

Press ENTER key to access to the main menu, and use UP/DOWNN key select “Advanced settings”, and enter the password “0010”, press ENTER to access to the advanced settings menu, and select “Select Standard”, use UP/DOWNN and ENTER key select “Gen50”

Step 2: Set Freq Derate Set

Path: Advanced Settings -> Password:0010 -> STD.Mode Settings -> “Freq derate set” After entering the “Freq derate set”, select mode “04”

Step 3: Enable the CT

Path: Advanced Settings -> Password:0010 -> Internal EPM settings -> Mode select -> Current Sensor If your CT is in the incorrect position the power flow will be negative.

Step 4: Turn Off Failsafe

Path: Advanced Settings -> Password:0010 -> Internal EPM settings -> Fail Safe ON/OFF. Set Failsafe to OFF.

Step 5: Enable Backflow Power

Path: Advanced Settings -> Password:0010 -> Internal EPM settings -> Backflow Power. Set the Backflow power to +00100 

Below I have included what the Powerwall’s generation will look like before and after these adjustments.

You can confirm that it is working by checking to see when the battery becomes close to full, the Powerwall will start to frequency shift, limiting the solar production.
