How to update UZ Energy battery to 1C firmware

Tools needed:

  • RS485/USB converter
  • Laptop

Step 1:

Switch off battery and set all dip switches off and connect RS485 to middle RJ45 port of the battery and then switch the battery on.

Step 2:

After you have turned the battery on, you can open the bootloader software on your computer.

The files needed for the update can be found on the service and tech support teams page. You can download this folder onto your laptop.

After downloading the files, you can open the bootloader application.

From the device manager we can see that we are using COM port 11, so we will use this COM port in the bootloader software to connect to the battery.

Ensure that you are connected to the correct port and set the Baudrate to the below.

Step 3:

Select browse and locate the 1C firmware.

After you have selected the 1C firmware and loaded it in the bootloader you can then click ‘Run’ to start the update.

When the update is completed, it will say ‘Upgrade OK’

Step 4:

Now you can open UIware to adjust parameters for 1C.

UIware is located in the folder that was downloaded, there are different versions of them, they are dependent on the firmware of the battery so if the one doesn’t show values try opening another one.

Confirm the COM port, we are using COM port 11 in this example.

If you are not able to see the SOC: % under the info page, try using a different version of UIware.

After confirming that you are connected to the battery, go to the ‘PARAM’ page and enter 888888 as the password in the bottom right corner(just type in the numbers nothing)

After entering 888888 you will be able to see the Read and Write parameters.

Select the Protect page at the top left.

Change only these 3 parameters to what is highlighted below and select Write to save them.

After writing these 3 parameters, select Alarm at the top left.

Change only these 2 parameters to what is highlighted below and select Write to save them.

You have now completed the upgrade to 1C UZ energy battery.
