How to fix a low voltage cell on a Weco Battery

Tools Required:

  • Allen keys
  • Size 10 socket driver
  • Power supply
  • Laptop Weco software

Step 1: Locate the cell which has the low voltage:

You can do this by connecting the Weco battery to the Weco Manager XP software on your laptop. Under the Module Debug screen it will show you in detail each cell voltage.

You can see from the below that Cell 10 is the low voltage cell .

Step 2: Remove Weco exterior cover:

The cells are marked as follows: We can see that cell 10 is in the bottom bank of cells, we will isolate this bank and then remove it from the chassis.

Step 3: Remove the cell bank

After disconnecting and isolating the 2 Power leads going to the bottom cell bank as well as the communication cables going to the BMS, you can use the 10-socket driver to remove the bottom bank of cells.

Step 4: After removing the cell bank, take off the plastic cover to see the individual cells.

There are 4 plastic stoppers on the sides that hold this cover in place.

Step 5: Connect the low voltage cell to a power supply and slowly charge it up.

Connect the correct terminals of cell 10 to the power supply and set the charging voltage to 3.65V at 1 Amp. Connect the correct terminals of cell 10 to the power supply and set the charging voltage to 3.65V at 1 Amp.

Once the cell has charged up as close as possible to the other cells in the bank you can reassemble the bank and battery, it is important to charge and discharge it afterwards to ensure that there is no problem with the cell and that it equalizes correctly while charging and discharging.
